Sustainable production and consumption

On Monday the class began their new unit of inquiry: Sustainable Production and Consumption. We focused on the first essential question: Where do the different foods we eat come from?

The students explored a range of products and realised that the food we eat comes from all over the world! I then told the class that when buying coffee there are so many options and I would like to know how far the coffee beans have travelled:


We then looked at a different brand of coffee that uses beans grown in the Philippines. I asked the class which coffee would be the best to choose which led us on to another of the essential questions: What does it mean to be a responsible consumer?
