Features of nonfiction texts

Earlier this week the students explored a range of books to compare the features of fiction and nonfiction texts.

We then made a class list of nonfiction features:

The students then looked at their first attempts at nonfiction texts and compared them to this list. They discovered that they were missing quite a few of these features! Following this we made a checklist of features to include in a second attempt at a nonfiction text. The students will be working on these over the coming weeks.
