Ecosystems

The class continued with their new unit of inquiry on ecosystems. The class were shown these 14 pictures and were asked to work together to group them. When they had finished they were asked to label the groups. This is what they came up with:


Building on this, the first essential question was introduced:

We then focused on what the term 'living things' meant. At their tables, the children were given a set of words to help them define what a living thing is. Here is an example of how one of the groups arranged them:
The plan was to then go on a nature walk around the school to see how many living things we could spot. Unfortunately the weather intervened! We will (hopefully) go tomorrow and tweet some pictures.
